A colicky infant with severe asthma requiring ER visits, I remember complaining to my parents at age 10 that I got "all the bad genes" and my younger brother got "all the good ones". My environmental allergen screening was positive for "everything," and my immune system is very weak considering my obsessively health-conscious habits. For example, I've had multiple bouts of tinnea versicolor (white skin spots) and shingles and had to have my tonsils removed in my 20s. Since childhood I also suffered from deep depression and loneliness on and off, and often felt I didn't belong in this world. My folks raised me Seventh Day Adventist and though I scoffed at the seemingly arbitrary rules (such as "dancing is evil except for square dancing, let's have a ho-down!"), I remained deeply spiritual and my faith in the Bible has been a true blessing throughout my life. Prayer and trusting God has opened me up to receive so many blessings including a profound sense of peace, acceptance and forgiveness, and has largely "cured" my life-long depression. A bon vivant, I love adventures, people, music, yoga, learning and rock climbing. I'm obsessed with food and a good glass of red wine, local cask brew or Jameson neat, being a Tai Yang Stomach biopsychotype (a medical acupuncture classification). Cooking is a creative meditation for me and it brings me great joy to share a healthy home-cooked meal with my boyfriend and our friends and family. As long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with the mind and have felt a calling to be a healer of some sort. My father was a pediatric heart surgeon with a heart of gold and an endless supply of energy and empathy who touched many peoples' lives before his own life was cut short at 48. Though I resisted going into medicine, after spending time with him at the hospital I decided that the world needed more doctors like him so I became an anesthesiologist. While taking care of my patients and being appreciated by the surgeons and staff was incredibly rewarding, there was not enough of a balance between work and the enjoyment of life/seeking/personal fulfillment that I craved. It took a nudge from God to get me to give up the great paycheck and the rewards that I'd convinced myself outweighed the demands of that job. Now I am absolutely filled with gratitude that I've been given a second chance to fill the void in my soul, get healthy and make this precious life really count. I stumbled upon Potentiate your DNA after many years of soul-searching including a couple of years of exponential personal growth and could barely put it down. The pages just spoke to me. 10 days later (last night) I received a potentiation from Sol and Leigh and it was a powerful experience. I prepared by making a list of intentions and undergoing a 2-hour healing touch session, which concluded an hour prior to my potentiation, to ensure my heart and other chakras were as open as possible. Afterwards, I told my healer I was going to be potentiated that night. She had never heard of such a thing so on a whim I offered to loan her my book. Surprisingly, she then asked if I wanted to borrow her guided meditation CD, which I know is very precious to her. I used it during and after my potentiation appointment. During the session I felt waves of unconditional love "wafting" down from above me, altering my brain-waves and penetrating my being. Wow! A couple hours later as I lay in bed feeling gratitude and love, I felt some sharp sensations all around my heart unlike anything I'd ever felt before, as if a thick eggshell were cracking and piece by piece being cleared away. Or as other potentiators put it (not specifically regarding the heart in what I've read so far), it felt like scales were falling away. I was exhilarated, recalling Ezekiel 36:26 "And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." I welcome the next crisis/opportunity and can't wait to see where this adventure goes!
